Decorating the hair

Decorating the hair

Wearing an English hood, also called a gable or pediment head dress.

Modern day accessories for hair mainly include pearls (taken from Elizabethan era) for weddings, and celebrations, and clips. This image shows a wedding design with added flowers that imitate pearls. I want to take this inspiration and interpret a new way of decorating the hair in my final design. I particularly like this look because the bun and plait resemble the look I have been practicing for one of the ideas for my Elizabethan look, it has given me ideas for adding pearls or other decorations in my look.

This image shows Elizabeth I covered in many decorations, her hair is decorated in pearls, symbolising her purity and chastity. The many decorations have inspired me to create designs that include this in my final plan. I want to include an object that has symbolism, this will tie in with the Elizabethan theme.

This is another modern look, a ribbon is woven into the hair through a plait, this technique amongst others have been used in Elizabethan hair styles to decorate the hair and hold it in place. I like this look and I want to practice different ribbons and design to incorporate into my plaits.

This is another example of a contemporary design that demonstrates a decoration in the hair, golden beads run throughout a design at the back of the head. Decorations similar to this have been used throughout historical eras to style and make the hair look 'good.'
